I'm a helping a customer to replace a dead SSD inside a T14 G5 laptop

My customer has a ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 AMD Ryzen 7 8840U 32GB RAM Win 11 Pro laptop with a 4TB Samsung 990 PRO. After one year the SSD died - I read this model tends to run hot and inside the laptop there is no heatsink to dissipate the heat either.

I proposed to replace it with a more reliable Lexar NM790 model. Samsung has some better specs on paper but in reality is there a big difference?

My customer is saying 990 Pro has 1,550,000 IOPS while NM790 only has 900,000 IOPS. The customer says they need at least 1,300,000 IOPS for their everyday work of writing small files and 900,000 IOPS is not sufficient for their job.

The 990 Pro has DRAM while NM790 uses HMB but inside a laptop is there a noticeable difference?

Thank you for your input
