Haven’t dated seriously since I was a teen, is this normal?

I haven’t really dated anyone seriously since my breakup 5 years ago, then I was 19 years old I’m now 24 years old and don’t know really how to date as an adult/never experienced it.

When I was 19 it consisted of seeing each other as often as we could, texting and calling everyday, etc does that carry over? I ask because someone from my past my frequent problem was that they’d go a hours never more than a day without “texting” I put it in quotation marks because they’d technically send a text that day but I wouldn’t get a response until the following day when I texted back.

Ex: I’d text at night something, they reply back in the morning I’ll text them whenever I see it and from then I won’t get a response until the following day. It happens infrequently and there’s usually never an explanation about the absence just continuation of the conversation at present.

I’m not sure if this is normal because I am unfortunately a victim of TikTok’s relationships algorithm where this behavior will be labeled as toxic but often times relationships are complex and most people that post sometimes aren’t adults or have toxic relationship patterns 🤷‍♀️

In my mind it’s a battle… on one side it’s like well if they can go without talking to you they don’t really care but on the other side I’ve had moments where I don’t respond/am busy or just don’t feel like engaging with anyone but I feel I’m a bit more considerate and will give the person courtesy in letting them know I’m unavailable.

I just graduated from college with a degree in business analytics and now I’m finally free to forge my own path! I have been wanting to relocate to NY since I was a little girl and now feel that I can do so once my contracted position is up at the end of summer. I’m looking to possibly connect with anyone who is already in NYC or is also looking to move end of year/beginning of next year. I want to hear your experience in terms of friendships/romantic relationships/work etc if you’d share!

Also, if anyone would like to help/has advice for a young black woman trying to enter the nyc job market please share. I’m in the complete dark as I am the second woman to graduate and move away from home in my family(first being my 82 year old great grandmother lol). only asking because my grandmother just reminded me that “close mouths don’t get fed” & “the worst that someone can say is no”

Thank you! 😊🙏

Just happy/want to share that I did it!!!! I felt so beautiful on one of the greatest days of my life. It was a rollercoaster those 4 years. There was literally blood, sweat and many many tears but I got to the finish line despite all of it. I wouldn’t have made it if not for the incredibly strong black women picking me up every time I fell.

(I edited out my university on my stash but there is something there lol)
