How long to let kitten try litter box before stimulating
I have an approximately 4.5 week old stray kitten, he's been with me for 1.5 weeks and I have stimulated over the litter for a few days after every meal. I am trying to get him using the litter box, he has had an accident on a blanket recently.
I put him in a small space with a litter box after every meal and have used his paw to paw at the litter, but he doesn't seem interested in it. He's independently explored the box a bit but has yet to use it.
How long do I let him try it on his own before I stimulate? I have been giving him 45 mins to an hour before stimulating because I'm worried about him not urinating frequently enough, but I've seen things online saying if I stimulate a few times a day to make sure he's going then I don't need to do it after every meal and I can let him try himself. Is that correct?
I had been letting him cuddle for a while after his bottle before stimulation, is that what is causing him to not go in the box right away?
