Guide: How to unsubscribe from USPS Expected Delivery emails

I’d been dealing with these emails for months despite “unsubscribing” from USPS Informed Delivery previously. I have no idea why the process is so roundabout, and there isn’t a simple “unsubscribe from all” button like 99% of emails have.

Through google searching, I can see I’m not the only one experiencing this nuisance. Thus, I am documenting the steps I took to (hopefully) permanently unsubscribe in hopes that this will save someone from the same headache!

Please note that I am a mobile user, and the site may look different on desktop. I am also using incognito mode to write out these steps to ensure saved cookies do not factor in. And for reference, the first image I’ve posted is of the email I receive.

  1. Go to [USPS’s Informed Delivery Dashboard](https://informeddelivery.usps.com/portal/dashboard#). You may need to log in. If you encounter the screenshot in image #2, tick the box to opt-in and then press “Continue”. If you are redirected to the normal USPS preferences page, make sure the checkbox under Informed Delivery is checked (yes, make sure it is ticked to opt in!)

  2. You should arrive at the dashboard for Informed Delivery (image #3). Press on the dropdown arrow to the right of the “Welcome” header to expand your options, and select “Notification Settings”.

  3. Scroll down to “Package Notification Options” and deselect everything (image #4). Confirm your choices by making sure to hit “Save Preferences” at the end. When I first entered this page, the email checkbox for “Expected Delivery Updates” was the only thing ticked for me, so hopefully turning it off resolves the issue!

  4. This next step might not be necessary now that you’ve disabled all of the notifications, but for good measure, I went to [USPS’s Preferences page](https://reg.usps.com/preferences), scrolled down to “Account Management”, clicked on “Informed Delivery” and unticked the box. (Note: Doing this without finishing the previous steps will still result in emails! Essentially, USPS makes us opt back into Informed Delivery in order to update our preferences before opting out again. Makes zero sense, but alas.)

I hope this helps! Will update if I still end up receiving emails.

(Btw, because I know someone will say this, I realize the easy answer is simply to block or send the emails to the spam folder, but I’m stubborn 🙂)
