Help Salvaging YMY22 Body— neck mod won’t fit!!
Hey all! I could really use some help here,
I have a Blythe on a YMY22 body. I was originally using the square neck insert, but the head came off one day and it felt like it had been a bit wobbly before that (maybe too heavy).
I was recommended by another experienced doll maker to replace the neck with a custom one from Etsy. She told me to remove the original neck, widen the hole if needed, and screw in the new piece using the screw it came with.
But when I tried installing it, there was actually nowhere in the chest to screw it into, so that part didn’t work at all.
I did widen the neck hole to try to fit the piece, but now I’m running into more issues:
-The neck itself seems too short
and
-The square supports inside the faceplates don’t sit properly and leave gaps
So now I’m stuck with a widened hole in the back of the body and no working neck installed 😭
I’m not sure how to properly measure the opening to get the right replacement, or if there’s a way to fix this DIY without needing to buy a whole new body.
Has anyone dealt with this with a YMY22 before? Is this salvageable?
I’d really appreciate any help, especially since it was urgent for me this week.
