Wow. Weird! I've seen debt for most of my life and dealt with debt collectors, settlements and all that so no stranger. I stopped paying on my few cards left back in the fall, Cap Ones, Discover, and Mercury Card. In November Mercury card ($3200) gave me a great settlement option of$132 payment for 5 months. I made one but then decided to tell them to stop the payments I'm not going to participate, that was in January. Today I get an email (thinking it was phishing mail)
I looked at my fidelity account and sure enough April 15th it was removed from the account.
I'm likely filing a Chapter 7 in two weeks. I'm going to have them reverse it, contact my bank and also requesting proof from Mercury. I believe I can get them on a Violation of FDCPA.
