I have a 78 Vespa bravo which I build a malossi Deps 75cc motor and it’s been running rough. To make a long story short it has fuel and spark no problem and seemingly good compression. It has no power at higher revs (past like 6k). The top end is used as looks as such with some scratches on the piston and polishing marks on the nikasil cylinder but nothing that I can feel on the bore. This is more of a general question but when reving it basically sprays a mist of fuel out the carb and onto the subframe. I was wondering if this is pressure leaking past the rings, but then again it also has reed valves so idk about that.

Took the dirtped out for a rip and lost my air filter half way through. On the way home it bogged out and could only hold an idle(died inter any throttle). I tossed a new plug in and got home but it ran like shit. Took the head off and as expected there was an insane amount of sludge for 2 hours max of run time. Bore and piston look fine after cleaning. It idles and starts but dies under throttle. If I slowly rev it up it will accept full throttle and rev out. On a road it just sputters but has okay power down low if you are gentle on the throttle. Cleaning carb and resjetting do nothing I even retimed the motor. After running it for a few more min the plug is recaked in the same sludge from before so I assume mud is sitting in the crankcase? Did not know if there was a standard procedure for this kind of thing lol. As of now I am going to shoot some carb clean past the reeds to let it break down the mud. I’ll let it sit like that for a while and then I plan to just let it run gently until it sorts itself. It also feels like an air leak so I’ll look at that too. Idc much about the top end as it’s houred up and a polini 4 stud would be better for the low to mid rpm woods riding anyways. It’s a 75cc Deps on a bravo btw
