She was the first person who truly understood how I felt and who I really was. For a while, she was empathetic and a great help, but as soon as I asked her to use feminine pronouns, she became curt, rude, and would stop talking to me for days. I told her how I felt, and she apologized for making me feel bad. Then she called me "Bro" and stopped talking to me altogether. I put up with that for about two years. So I decided that if she wasn't going to add anything to my life, she shouldn't take anything away from it either. So I told her that was as far as I was going to go.
