How to stop toddler from locking door

My sister’s 2 year old has found out how to lock her out on the balcony using the deadbolt.

I don’t know what exactly to search for child proofing if there is something like that because all I get are baby locks.

She usually keeps the keys in her pocket to prevent being locked out, but someday she might forget to have them.

DIY options would be appreciated too.

I am fostering a very sweet cat, Merry. She is extremely affectionate, 4-5 years old, and she started sleeping in bed with me the day after I got her.

A big part of me really wants to adopt her.

But I’m worried I am being selfish because: I don’t have a ton of energy and I worry I’m not giving her all she needs. She has to lose weight and while she has made good progress, I have not been playing with her nearly enough. I have a chronic illness and have been sick for 8 of the last 10 weeks.

She is up for showcase, meaning she will be moved into the store “shelter” area to be viewed. Since she likes cuddling with me and my dog, I worry this will negatively impact her mental health if it takes a while for her to be adopted.

She was about 20 pounds when I got her and was so fat, now her hip bones are actually visible so even without exercise she has made significant progress.

Another reason I worry I am being selfish is because if I adopt her I will not be able to foster any more cats for this rescue since I am at my capacity for space.

I have a cute ramshorn snail in my large tank. But there is so much algae in my other tank and I would like to move him to that tank so he can feast on the yummy algae. How should I do this?

Can I just pick him up, or is there a specific technique to make sure he doesn’t get injured?

And do I, like with fish, need to put him in a container of water for the couple of feet to the other tank, or is it best to just carry him?

And I know some breeds of snails can drown if you don’t place them a specific way, like nerites, are ramshorn the same way, or can I just gently put him in the water.

The tanks are exactly the safe temperature and both have the exact same water parameters.

Other occupants in the tank he will be moved to are: baby Platys, a group of otocinclus, and a Siamese algae eater. All are very peaceful.

I have a ton of soft algae in my 29 gallon. There are 5 otos who can’t keep up with it- there are a lot of baby Platys so the algae builds up.

I have 2 options:

Get more otos

Or Move my Ramshorn (temporarily) from my 55 gallon to the 29 gallon so he can help them get the algae down a bit

I do adore my otos, 3 are more recent additions and they’re very happy and have adorable chubby bellies.
