Sorry for the unusual question (and maybe bad English).

I am planning to give a pencil coloured bookmarker as a gift.

My concern: will the colour smudge to the book when it is used as a bookmarker?

Is a fixative spray enough for protecting both the colour and the book? or laminating is the only safe option here.
