Is going self employed a huge financial risk?
I'm on pay related job seekers (450/w), and want to set up my own business. I recently did a gig paying 600 for 3 days work, but if I accept payment, I'll lose job seekers benefit (it's connected to my PPSN). I usually wouldn't mind but with no work lined up, it's a big financial risk
on a separate note, I asked citizens information about financial schemes to help me transition into self employment, and was told that I'd have to stay unemployed for a year to avail of such benefits, and that it would be, and I quote, "financial suiciide", to get off the dole rn.
so 2 questions, should I accept the payment and give up my benefits, and is there any financial advise to help transition to self employment ??
