My partner and I are currently renting a condo unit in Toronto. One night, we ordered food from an *app* and while the driver was trying to open the lobby door, he accidentally damaged part of the flooring/tile in the lobby area.

Now the condo management is contacting our landlord and saying we may be responsible for the repair costs. We already reported the incident to the app, but they responded that they don’t compensate for this type of property damage.

We’re unsure what our best course of action is here. Are tenants usually liable for damages caused by a delivery driver? Should we push back on management, continue escalating with the app, or involve insurance somehow?

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated!

TO ADD CONTEXT: The condo we reside in have those buzz/intercom system in the entrance, so we granted access remotely
