Hi there! So to get started, I’ll give a little context. For as long as I’ve had hair long enough to show it(since about 15 give or take) the hair in front of my ears won’t grow. In the photos I’ve separated the sections with my hands to give you an idea of where that delineation is.

Now, as you can probably guess from my hairline, I have Male Pattern Baldness that I am currently contending with, and treating with Finasteride and Minoxidil. However, as far as I’m aware, this growth pattern seemed to exist prior to that as well. It may have been a very early sign of it, maybe, but I can’t be certain. The hair on the bottom of my nape is similar, as you might be able to see.

Now if it’s just a genetic pattern, and my hair won’t grow there, the question I have is, well, how do I deal with it? When my hair is down it’s not a huge issue, but when it’s up, those parts stick and jut out in a way, at least to my eyes, that seems rather awkward and unappealing. If there are others with this, what did you do? How do you handle it?

To give some pieces for the stylistically inclined among you, here’s a few notes on my personal style and preferences:

- I tilt androgynous and slightly feminine, in demeanor and fashion when the situation allows for it.

- In terms of clothing, I dress in an Academia style. Some blazers, turtlenecks, light linen shirts and pants, that sort of thing. Very “archeologist” to put it another way.

- if I can help it, Id like to keep my hair long, as that really helps with the whole feminine/androgynous thing, but if you really feel that needs to change I’m not gonna stop you!
