Im just starting to catch up on the current Hulk run and came across this issue. After reading it I gotta ask, who is lying in this scene

I could have swore base Thanos has smacked the Hulk around at least once or twice in canon. But again its been so long I genuinely dont know anymore 😅 I didn't want to ask any of the powerscaling subs because they just dont read comics lol

Is this truly the Hulks first true legitimate win over Thanos in the comics?

Enough of these DC character vs Marvel characters powerscaling debates. If Marvel and DC shared a world what are some interactions/crossovers/teamups you would want to see?

It can be anything from two heroes interacting to villains interacting and teaming up. How their respective cosmic and mystical lores would potentially overlap you name it

I for one, would love to see some of the martial artists from DC meet and fight the ones from Marvel. Shang Chi meeting and fighting someone like lady Shiva or Bruce seeking out Danny Rand to train under him would be awesome

I also see like Quicksilver having a petty one sided rivalry with the Flash and constantly trying to challenge Wally to a race to prove he's faster

The man who actually saved the city from Fisk is currently unjustly rotting in a prison cell (I lowk hope She Hulk represents him in court next season now that his identity as Daredevil is public) but this BUM gets the key to the city? For what? Beating tarantula and Boomerang??

Fuck outta heree

This BUM just lost his job in the latest issue of Joe Kelly's run in case you weren't aware

Yes I know it was Ben's fault but I won't let that stop my slander

Okay recently not just on this subreddit but online as a whole people have really started ramping up talks about what characters or who deserve to be considered part of the Mt Rushmore. So I hope to shed some light on just exactly what it means for a superhero to be put on that pedestal. And why exactly each one of the heroes Im showing above has MORE than earned their place. Yes, including Wonder Woman.

For starters this NEEDS to be main clearly as possible:

IT IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST!

Sorry, if the character you're trying to debate only got public exposure via a movie made about them in 2017 or something they aren't on the Mt Rushmore. Point blank period. Popularity is temporary and does NOT equate to being ICONIC.

The thing that solidifies each of the superhero big 4 (again, that Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Spider-Man) as the defacto Mt Rushmore isn't their popularity or recognizability among casual supehero fans and those who largely don't even know much about the genre-although those all still certainly play a factor. Its about how each hero fundamentally directly influenced or changed the genre forever with their creation.

Lets start it off:

Superman- he needs little explanation

The man is the quintessential Superhero who's name is literally synonymous with the genre. Everything essentially started with him. What mickey mouse is for Disney, Superman is for superheros. There'd be no superheroes without him.

Batman- The first superhero without superpowers. Showing you don't need to run faster than a speeding bullet and be more powerful than a locomotive in order to fight crime. He also became the first superhero to have a sidekick. This all kids reading comics to no longer need to imagine themselves as these larger than life adults in order to picture themselves as a superhero.

Spider-Man- Introduced as the first teenage superhero to not be associated with any team as well as not be introduced as a sidekick to an already existing adult hero. Unlike being a billionaire living in a mansion or a superpowered godlike alien from another planet Peter Parker has relatively normal daily struggles that the average person reading his comics can often relate too. Also the way his suit is designed to cover his entire body anyone can imagine themselves as Spider-Man. Stan Lee said it best himself.

And finally Wonder Woman- frankly the most overlooked and disrespected member of the four. And yes she's more than earned her place too. Her creation in the comics broke established gender norms. Showing that even women can be superheroes. There's an almost 100 percent chance that your favorite female superhero wojld not exist today without Wonder Woman's creation.

She not only broke but outright reversed the classic "damsel in distress" trope with the subsequent creation of her own love interest Steve Trevor. Showing that heroes can be feminine in appearance and still BE heroes

THATS why these characters on considered the Mt Rushmore. They were trailblazers who's very creation fundamentally changed the genre forever. So no, Iron man isn't on the Mt Rushmore over Wonder Woman just because RDJ played him ans he was the first movie to start the MCU. Not how this works.

And sorry to the Wolverine and Hulk fans, your character while WAY more iconic than say Iron man. Still didnt have enough of an influence on the genre to plead an argument. And even then the only real case would be Wolverine and the argument that he popularized anti heroes. But unfortunately yet again, that sub genre is too small and he didnt have enough of a broader influence to be considered on the same pedestal.
