My 4-month-old has a bony ridge on the roof of the mouth. Causes pain during breastfeeding. Should I be worried?
My 4-month-old baby has a hard, bony protrusion running along the center of the roof of the mouth (palate). The roof of his mouth is not smooth or flat because of this ridge.
When breastfeeding, this ridge feels very sharp—almost like a knife—pressing against the nipple, which is making nursing increasingly painful and difficult each time.
I really feel worried:
Is this ridge "normal" or could it be something like Torus Palatinus?
Is it dangerous for the baby's development?
Will this impact speech or articulation in the future?
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice on how to manage the pain or which specialist to see (Pediatrician or Pediatric Dentist)?
