Make/Model: GE / Mabe GUAP270EM1WW unitized (stacked) washer-dryer laundry center (washer section). Serial: LZ002310C. Made in Mexico. Problem Summary When I start a wash cycle with the lid closed (or with the lid switch fully bypassed by shorting the two wires), the machine fills for only 30–60 seconds, then stops. It does nothing else until I open the lid (or untwist the shorted wires). Opening the lid lets it fill for another 10–13 seconds, then stops again. If I leave the lid completely open (or wires untwisted/open circuit), it fills all the way to the correct level without stopping, then waits for me to close the lid. Once I close the lid, it starts agitating and completes the entire cycle normally. The behavior is 100% consistent — not intermittent. The inlet valve keeps flowing normally whenever the machine is allowed to fill. Nothing is physically moving except water. Troubleshooting Steps Already Done Replaced the lid lock/switch assembly with a brand-new part (confirmed working). Completely removed the lid from the machine so nothing mechanical is interacting with the switch area. Stripped the two lid-switch wires and manually shorted them to simulate a permanently closed lid. Still get the short fill + pause. Toggling the short (untwist then twist again) is required to resume filling. Confirmed the inlet valve flows continuously and does not drop out when left in “open lid” mode. Ruled out basic water level/pressure switch issues in initial testing (machine reaches correct fill level when lid is open). No unusual noises, no error codes. Current Status The machine works fine with the workaround (start with lid open → let it fill → close lid), but I want normal one-touch operation again.
