Artwork for Blank Dining Room Wall?
I have a wall in a modern renovated dining room as part of an old Victorian era house. I would like to add artwork to this wall to make an elegant and subtle feature out of it. The wall measures approximately 3.8 metres (12.5 feet) wide x 2.4 metres (7.9 feet) tall. The centre of each downlight are spaced just under 1 metre (3.3 feet) apart from each other. The top of the downlight lighting on the wall is about 2.0 metres (6.5 feet) from the ground.
I'd like advice on what size of artwork, spacing, colour tones etc. would be appropriate.
I would like an Australian nature (eg. Gumtree) type of work on the wall. I am thinking 3 similar but not continuous pictures on the wall that are large but not too large to overpower the wall. I'm thinking lighter understate colours, not bold and loud colours.
The second image is a mock up of such a concept . I think it looks good but I'm not great with artwork and making sure that it works in the context of the room, so would appreciate any suggestions from someone who has experience with this sort of thing.
I understand that a matte finish (not glossy glass due to the downlights), and that a thin oak type timber frame with no white border around the artwork would look best in this room for this type of artwork. Thoughts?
Thanks!
