1999 Corolla
Hi 1999 Corolla LE with 215/45R17 rubbing in rear — suspension or tire setup?
My 1999 Toyota Corolla LE currently has 215/45R17 tires on it. The rear tires rub mainly on bumps or when I have passengers/weight in the car. Front measurement from center of wheel to fender is about 14.25", rear is about 13", so the rear seems to sag lower.
I checked behind the rear wheel and the tire does not appear to constantly touch the spring/strut. Rubbing mostly happens under compression/load.
Trying to figure out:
Is 215/45R17 just too aggressive for this chassis?
Are worn rear struts/springs the main issue?
Would KYB rear struts + springs solve this?
Or should I go back to something like 195/65R15?
Considering either:
KYB Excel-G rear setup
Monroe Quick-Struts
or adjustable suspension
Would appreciate advice from anyone who has run 17s on an E110 Corolla .
