
Will start with the problem and fix and fill in background after. Pulled my brand new (picked up Monday, posted here the other day) GT into the garage, turned it off, then for reasons that now escape me, decided to start it again immediately. Except it wouldn't start. It showed the pictured warning lights. On the left, an Electronic Power Steering system warning and on the upper right a "malfunction in the EV system" light. I tried multiple times, it would show "Not ready to drive" or something to that effect (sorry, did not get a photo in my absolute panic state) then go back to the message show in the photo, "press brake and push power..."
Basically it acted like it was in the ready state. The infotainment screen was on, my phone was connected through android auto. But the damn thing wouldn't start! I even got out, tried to lock it. It wouldn't lock, wouldn't turn off, nothing.
I called the service department of the dealer through the infotainment system of my connected android phone. While I was on hold, I set my phone on the wireless charger, it started charging, then the dash and infotainment went dark and it seemed to reboot. And then I was able to start it like nothing happened. The hell?!?
So the background -- I also purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty (because technology lol), and call me a sucker if you will, but I also bought a paint protection package. The dealer's "performance body" department picked it up at my house this morning to do the paint protection and dropped it back off mid-afternoon. It was after they dropped it off that all the above crap happened, so my first thought of course was "What did these a-holes do to my BRAND NEW CAR!?!?" Like did they get something wet that they shouldn't have? But after the thing with the phone I'm wondering if this was just a bizarre software glitch. The Uncharted's "blue screen of death"
Having never owned an EV before, wondering if any other Uncharted or Solterra folks have had this happen. Is it something I should be worried about long term? Or like I said is it just a glitch?
BTW I was told their service person would call me back and as of yet they have not.
