Game design is at a breaking point
I’m currently playing Iran and having fun.
However, the world around me is in a constant state of anarchy that in this new update I feel even more powerless to stop. At any one point there are a dozen rebellions ranging from extremely small ones that somehow beat their host. To separatist movements that spawn the same nation.
I’ve come to terms that Austria and ottomans explodes every game, but their constituent nations are also doing it. It feels like small developed nations have 0 impact at all. I have 3 bulgarias and a Dobruja, almost every ethnic nation in Austria has spawned bar Transylvania because I forced Romania into existence.
Furthermore, there are nations in India and Africa that have switched hands between colonial powers 5+ times because they keep getting independence then losing again. Navy is a large part of this why on gods green earth do I have to build troopships? I have supply ships and convoys? Troopships shouldn’t exist but normal ships should only carry marines. Another point, the steel production required is absolutely out of the AI’s capability, same for hardwood. The economic intelligence of nations is the worst it has ever been. They don’t build ANYTHING partially because it costs too much and the constant revelations in nations after they research certain social techs. 1 more thing, AUSTRIA HAS 50k PEOPLE BECAUSE THEIR 1 SMALL POLISH HOLDING STOPS REVOLUTIONS FROM ENDING WHYYYYYY. I’d say this is the biggest issue.
I am playing Iran I have a modest navy but the hard wood required to build a decent fleet means I monopolised the resource. Overall, I think building should be made ALOT cheaper for nations with decent tech and reforms.
Don’t even get me started on colonialism. NO ONE COLONISES CORRECTLY. It’s been an issue with nations losing colonies too early due to revolts, but at least they tried. It’s 1930 for me and in 2 years I accrued the largest African holding full for rubber, NO ONE COMPARES. Apart from spains forever wars in North Africa over colonies they keep losing, France and Britain have isolated provinces all over the world. Ik this isolated colony/subject has been an issue for while.
So in all, please tell me if my fears are unwarranted because I am still enjoying the game but only the nation and area I play in, the world disappoints me every time I look around. Despite the new Japan update they don’t become a power, South American nations are way too aggressive for their economic stature, Europe blows up and France never industrialised, Middle East just doesn’t matter, Asia as a whole is simply an infamy farm, Indonesia is OK I guess, Russia is way too weak. That’s just a small account.
Iran is fun I guess, but I really wish discoverable resources existed in nations who industrialise outside the norms, I mean for goodness sake Africa has the largest natural resources in the world, why me, as Sokoto, Ethiopia or Kongo can I not access these. Don’t say it’s not historical as 3-4 bulgarias is not historical either.
