I’m venting because people frustrate me.
I’m at the park. It’s a rule of ours that if you’re on your scooter you need your helmet. My 4.5 year old threw her helmet and said no. I told her one more time you need your helmet or no scooter. She put it on then took it back off and scootered away. This was after a long day and I knew she is just tired and probably hungry at this point so I decided it’s time to leave.
Well, she screamed and cried. Just screaming I want to play I want to play. She has sensory processing issues so I tried to put her in her seat but I’m not going to strap her down while she’s screaming and deregulated. I tried swaying her outside of or car which usually helps but didn’t this time. Eventually I just let her sit in the front seat with me until she calmed down.
And people looked, of course. But one lady in particular got out of her car while she was screaming and went to her husband who was with their kids at the park, went back to her car, closed the windows and began BLASTING music inside her car. And while I was sitting in my car with my daughter she shot me the nastiest look.
And I’m just venting because this bothers me. A mother giving nasty looks to another mother who is clearly in a hard moment. And I tend to get in my head like did I do something wrong? Idk.
