Hey guys,

I’m an intern coordinator for a congressional office. I won’t specify who or what party I work for. One thing I do want to share as a piece of advice is to not follow up with phone calls, emails, or drop-ins…especially if it’s listed in the JD. Some offices intentionally write it as a trap to see which intern candidates fail to follow written instructions. I cannot emphasize this enough: please don’t follow up!

The only time it is remotely acceptable to follow up is if you’re verifying that the office received your application materials. Otherwise, don’t do it!
