Hello,
I'm an Egyptian applying for university in Slovakia.
I don't understand the process nor the required documents and the embassy keeps ghosting my emails.
From what I've understood, I need to apply for temporary residence first, then apply for a type-d visa.
I've read that I no longer need proof of financial means to apply for temporary residence through the embassy, but do I need it to apply for the visa? My friend from Russia showed me that visa applications for study don't require it for nationals of any nationality, not just Russians (file at the end of this webpage: https://www.mzv.sk/en/web/moskva-en/services/visa\_information )
However, the website of our embassy doesn't say that, in fact it doesn't explicitly mention anywhere the required documents for type-d visa for studies without a scholarship.
Do I need to provide proof of financial means when applying for visa for my studies? Also what am I supposed to first apply for a residence permit then apply for a visa? And is there an interview too for applying for a temporary residence permit? How much is the fee for applying for temporary residence through the embassy?
if I need proof of financial means, does it need to be notarized and translated into slovak? Also how do I calculate it? The only thing I can find is 56 euros/day, but I don't think this applies to students, and I'm not sure what period to calculate it with, a year or the visa validity or for my whole studies (which are one year)?
