Hi everyone,
I recently received an offer for Global Liberal Studies (GLS) at NYU as an international student. I’m still not entirely sure what I want to pursue long-term, but I’m currently leaning toward a career in consulting. Because of that—and some uncertainty about how AI might impact the job market in the next few years—I thought a broader, more flexible degree like GLS might be a good choice.
That said, I’m a bit unsure about the course content itself, especially the heavier theoretical focus, and whether it aligns with my interests.
I wanted to ask: do you think GLS is a good pathway into consulting? Also, how flexible is NYU in terms of double majoring, switching majors, or even transferring to a different school within or outside the university?
My other options are UK universities, which I understand are generally more rigid in terms of course structure. Given that I’m still figuring out my career direction, I’m wondering whether the flexibility of a program like GLS might be more beneficial.
I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts on the program and its career prospects, especially for consulting. Thanks!
