Got a place through bookings.com for 7 days and it was not the most pleasant stay. A bunch of small things then no hot water for a night. Host refused to at least partially refund but offered a discount if I return to them in the future. Bookings gave me 12 bucks in credits.
Today I left a honest comment detailing all the issues I experienced. Then got two calls from this stranger number. I thought it was scam at first but when they called for the second time I picked it up. It was 23 seconds of quick insults, ending with “crazy bitch” and he said something like “I will not give you discount” or something like that? It was so quick I barely made the connection.
Very upset to get this kind of call for the first time though I’ve always left honest comments on booking platforms like this and Airbnb, I called bookings.com. They apologized and put me on hold saying they need to pull their resources. I was put on hold for an hour. They emailed me saying “they’ve advised the host to not call me and the host had denied calling me (they said they did not retain guests’ numbers). And this will not happen again and they stopped it.”
I had the phone number that called me. It matched the phone number of this renting company (LLC) on their website. They called and insulted a consumer and lied. Bookings did very little except apologizing this had happened, and asked me to block this number, despite that they’ve given them my phone number. Not sure if they’ve flagged this host. Imagine what he’ll do to future guests?
What is booking.com’s responsibility to consumers in cases like this?
