As a Gen Xer this is how I see it:

Since Micronauts are enjoying a sort of revival, I'd love to see a streaming series that's mature animation in the truest sense: deeper writing, real conversations, and lasting consequences. Not necessarily R-rated, but definitely adult themes, just not made for kids first.

More like:

  • Star Trek
  • Babylon 5
  • Firefly
  • Invincible
  • Primal
  • Creature Commandos

And built around a strong season-long story arc, not one-off episodes. An ongoing narrative with real stakes that impacts the story from one episode to the next.

The idea wouldn't be to ignore the toys — things like the Hydrocopter, Micropolis, the Hornetroid, the Photon Sled, etc. — but to integrate them naturally into the world without coming off like a commercial, ala He-Man.

A serious sci-fi, character-first, ongoing adventure with a real story arc and consequences.

Aesthetically, I'd like to see something in the style of Tartakovsky's approach combined with Gunn's humor and dedication to source material to bring the right tone to it.

Sound good?
