I (F) met this guy at the beginning of the year online through a friend. We have a lot of shared interests, so we gradually started talking more and more. Over time, I really started to like his personality and just having him around.
For context, I’m usually pretty introverted. I’m not someone who talks a lot or easily keeps conversations going, and it’s actually very rare for me to be genuinely interested in someone. I don’t get crushes often (my last one was in 2020 lol), so I’m taking my feelings seriously this time.
We got closer up until around March, but everything still felt kind of unclear. Our conversations stayed pretty surface-level and there wasn’t any obvious flirting. But since late April / May, we’ve been getting closer. For example, he takes the time to update me about his days while he’s traveling, and I’ve noticed he doesn’t really do that with others. In group calls, he’ll sometimes say things like “you already know this, but I’ll tell the others,” which makes me feel like I’m kind of getting special attention.
There are also small things that *could* feel like flirting, but I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it because he sometimes jokes like that with other friends too. Like when we’re all on a call, he’ll call us “my girls” as a joke, but when we talk in DMs, the vibe feels different.
The thing is, I know the obvious answer would be to just ask him directly… but I’m pretty shy, and I’m scared of making things awkward or ruining the friendship we have.
So now I’m confused 😅
