Today, a video was posted on social media showing a Chinese climber ascending Mount Fuji. After reaching the summit, he began a summit celebration by waving a Chinese flag. However, some White Americans around him appeared offended when they saw it and then pulled out a Japanese flag.
When the video was posted, many people in the comments said it was disrespectful to wave another country’s flag on Mount Fuji. However, there have also been Indians and Filipinos waving their own national flags after climbing Mount Fuji.
I believe there are Americans who wave their own flags near the peak of Mount Fuji as well. So what are your thoughts on this? Is celebrating a summit with national flags disrespectful, or are certain people simply making a fuss over it?
