Some recent life events have made it clear that I may need to make the move back to California for family reasons. I did my undergrad in CSD there then moved away for grad school in the PNW (big mistake—should have stayed in CA and done the cheaper route, don’t be like me and fall for the fancy school allure) and now have been in the schools for almost 2 (school) years now. Looking for recommendations on easiest/cheapest way to make this possible. Part of me wants to cut all my losses and leave the rough school dynamic I’m in now, but if I’m not being impulsive I think the soonest we’d be able to move is December, not sure what job opportunities would look like then. If not then, then likely next summer. If I recall, RPE is a thing so wondering if that’s something I can get a jump on over the summer or if there is a certain expedited process for getting it through a contract company or something.
I’ve only ever been direct hire in the schools but I’m open to other settings if I need to do that first to get set up. I’ve been curious about other settings just not really into dysphagia sadly (love voice and cog comm 🥲) and never got real clinical experience with it. Just trying to figure out what it would take to get back there for my family. Anyone have insights?
