This red area appeared on my skin over the course of a day. I had the largest sore toward the top of the area since I went camping last weekend and assumed it was just a bug bite I scratched or something. Prior to Friday evening it was just that small spot but at the end of the day Friday when I took off my socks, there was a darker red area around that scab and a more dispersed light red area as shown in the first picture. I drew an outline around it in pen to see if it changed and it has not really gotten bigger though it is essentially all the same red color now. It doesn’t hurt at all and doesn’t really itch.
Some potentially relevant info: I was camping last week Friday through Sunday (7 days ago) in the mountains of central Arizona. I did get bug bites but nothing unusual or painful. Wednesday through Sunday of this week I was at a conference in San Francisco and walking 6-7 miles a day and on my feet a lot. On Friday I was splashed by some unknown liquid on exactly that leg basically in the spot where the redness is. I mention this because my hotel was on the edge of a bad neighborhood (Tenderloin) and in an attempt to give some folks space I stepped off a curb and got splashed with the contents of a bottle right on that leg. I don’t know what was in the bottle but it was essentially a clear liquid but I don’t know. I assumed urine at the time. I went to my hotel and washed my leg and that’s when I fist saw the red area. Again I have no pain and minimal itchiness. It seems that additional small skin sores are opening on my skin within the bounds of the red area.
It doesn’t hurt or itch but given how large it is I’m a bit concerned. Any thoughts?
