I drive a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Base (Automatic) that has 144,000 miles on it. I got stranded in Roswell, NM, and my family is Oklahoma is having to come get me to check on it.
It all happened when I was passing a truck in the left lane. I accelerated, and my car sputtered (it had sputtered before but my dad didn’t find any issues and it was just slightly) and suddenly it went into limp mode - the check engine light came on for the first time, the EPC light came on, and traction light, and “fault stability control” as well on the dashboard. I pulled over, turned off my car then back on. All lights went away but the Check Engine light.
Once I got to Roswell, I went to an Autozone and had them run the codes for me. Here are the codes:
P0299 - Turbocharger under boost
P0299
P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire
P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire
P0299 - Boost pressure regulation: Control range not reached
P0299 - Boost pressure regulation: Control range not reach
U040100 - Invalid data received from ECM/PCM ‘A’
01314-013 - Engine Control Model (ECM)
The guy recommended I disconnect the battery to see if it clears and fixes the issue. However, it had the same issue where it went into limp mode with all of the lights. My dad is going to look at it tomorrow with hopes of getting it fixed.
What is the most likely issue?
