Took my daughter (1.5 yrs) to her first dentist appointment today. She has had a mucocele on her bottom lip for about 2 months now. Have been waiting for it to go away on its own but it hasn't so I brought it up in the appointment today. Dentist said there were 3 options for treatment: trying to treat it at home by sucking on something sour like a lemon, letting the dentist pop it so it drains, or eventually going in with a laser. We both agreed that it might be difficult to effectively do the at home method due to her age, so she recommended popping it there in the office. She did, and then she recommended I come back in a week to check on it which I thought was odd. I expected it to just drain and then be gone (so what needs checked?). She also suggested I keep massaging it to help get everything out.

When we got home I noticed that the size really hadn't gone down at all. Then looked online a bit and the general consensus seems to be to never pop these because they just come back? Can anyone tell me if this was a proper recommendation by her to pop it or if it was a totally unnecessary procedure and we're going to have to end up with the laser procedure anyway? Trying to figure out if I should continue to take my daughter here.
