I’ve been thinking a lot about the roots of this franchise. While Call of Duty (2003) gave us a global perspective and World at War (2008) showed us the true horror of war, recent WWII titles feel like they’re stuck in a loop. We’ve seen Normandy and the forests of Germany a thousand times. It’s time for the franchise to tackle what I call The Third Face of the war: The African and Mediterranean Fronts. We need a campaign that moves away from the "Hollywood hero" trope and returns to the visceral, gritty atmosphere of WaW. Imagine: The Brutality of the Desert: Not just sand, but the psychological toll of the heat, the isolation, and the "Rat of Tobruk" experience. Mechanical Terror: Massive tank battles in El Alamein using the current engine's power—smoke, heat distortion, and the claustrophobia of being inside a steel trap. Untold Stories: Moving the spotlight to the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG), colonial troops, and the fierce resistance in Tunisia and Libya. The African front wasn't just a side quest; it was a desperate struggle for survival. If Treyarch or Sledgehammer took this setting and applied the dark, uncensored tone we loved in 2008, it would be a breath of fresh air for the series. Innovation doesn't always mean going to the future; sometimes it means looking at the parts of history we’ve ignored. What do you guys think? Would you play a gritty, sand-choked CoD set in North Africa?
