My name is Jose, I am 22 years old and I live in Peru with my family. I am writing this because right now I honestly feel overwhelmed and do not know what to do anymore.

On April 1st, my mother was hit by a car while walking home. The driver tried to escape, but neighbors witnessed the accident and helped stop him. Unfortunately, he has no insurance and is refusing to take responsibility for my mother’s medical expenses and recovery.

I study at university and work part-time, but now I have become the main provider for my family while also taking care of my younger brother and helping my mother recover. Some days I feel like I may have to leave university because the emotional and financial pressure is becoming too much.

I previously traveled to the United States legally with a temporary work visa to earn money and support my family. That is why my GoFundMe information uses my U.S. work information.

Right now I am handling the legal process completely on my own while also trying to decide if I should return to the U.S. to work again and send money home. But if I leave Peru, there will be nobody here to help care for my mother and brother.

We created this GoFundMe because my mother urgently needs hip surgery, and we are struggling to cover the costs of the operation, therapy, medications, and legal expenses related to the case. Hola a todos, hago este post para pedirles ayuda, si soy yo denuevo, disculpen que los moleste tanto.
Pero en mi situación estoy desesperado y uso esto como lugar de difusión.
El 1 de abril, mi madre fue atropellada por un vehículo mientras regresaba a casa después de una larga jornada de trabajo vendiendo bebidas tradicionales. Es una mujer trabajadora, honesta y muy querida en nuestra comunidad.
Lo más duro de esta situación es que la persona responsable no pagó nada de lo ocurrido.
