I would like to get some advice on a situation with my girlfriend and the husband of a friend of hers. I would like opinions on whether it is just harmless flirtation or something more serious to look at. Personally I tend to overreact a lot to things like this so getting other opinions helps. I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.
So it started in September. We were invited to the birthday party of a friend of my gf. My gf warned me that this husband of another acquaintance friend of hers would be there and the last time she saw them he was staring at her quite a lot. And this happened again that night. We were in a jazz club at a rectangular table. Husband was sat to my left and my gf to the right. The stage was to our left so we all had our heads turned left toward the stage. He kept turning back to the right to stare at my gf. In full view of everyone, he would turn around, angle his head past me and stare at my girlfriend. He did it multiple times. It was kind of weird.
But then a funny thing happened. When he turned back to the stage she started looking at him. Then when he was going to the toilet and coming back she followed him with her eyes. I found this ambiguous. Part of me was wondering if she was into him. But I thought “nah she’s probably just looking at him because she’s weirded out”. I didn’t think too much more of it.
Then 3 months later we were all at another birthday party in a friend’s flat. At one point my gf initiated a conversation with husband in a weird sort of nervous giggly tone that I’ve never heard her use before. To me it felt like she was signalling attraction but I can’t be sure. Then later on my gf was helping in the kitchen. Half an hour or so later I went to talk to people in the kitchen. My gf was helping out and kept looking through a window in a door at the back of the kitchen. She did it 3 or 4 times while I was there. At one point she walked off somewhere else so I went over to look through that window and there was a direct view of husband sitting in the living room. Again I found it ambiguous.
Finally last night we were at another birthday party in a wine bar. We were all bunched into a little corner. On two occasions husband deliberately brushed past her. I could tell by her reaction that he had touched her. The first time he did it she smiled and said hi to him. Later on as we were saying goodbye, husband was sat on a bar stool and some of her friends were stood around him. As she went to say bye to her friends, she stood extremely close to husband. Unnecessarily so that they may have been touching a little bit. She then deliberately engaged him in conversation a little bit. Then when we were leaving he again came to talk to me and her and she started engaging him in a jokey conversation about something. Like she doesn’t seem to be shutting his attention down or anything like that.
He is obviously very attracted to her. I was wondering based on what I’ve written if it seems like she is attracted to him and whether it’s something I should be worried about, or if I’m just being paranoid and overreacting?
