Bizarre request, I'm sure, but I'm hoping there's some hidden niche cable somewhere that can help me deal with some annoying coil whine.
I have a monitor with data/DP/DP that goes up to 100W for charging connected devices. My work laptop makes full use of that, which is great for a quick charge but really annoying for actually working on from of that screen making high pitched noises all day long.
I'm hoping to find a cable that can limit the power delivery down to 45w while still letting me keep my 4k/120hz support, and access to the USB ports built into the monitor ( where I'm connecting my input devices and webcams )
I've experimented with a startech cable with 60w PD, but there's still some coil whine. I've also plugged a Steam Deck ( 45W ) and that was silent. So I'm trying to force that same upper ceiling via the middleman since neither the monitor nor the laptop give me options for limiting power delivery.
Currently my workaround is to have the device connected to the monitor, while also being connected to the magnetic charger. Works perfectly fine, but I'd love to have a silent one-cable solution instead, even if it charges slowly by comparison.
Thanks in advance, even if the answer ends up being "the feature-set and the power delivery are inexorably tied together"
