I really wish they included the 9/11 sub plot on the show. Its incredibly important and makes things make sense.
For those who didn't read the comics, 9/11 is a very important plotline.
During the attacks that day Vought decides to send the Seven out on their first actusl attempt to be task life heroes and it goes bad. Like really bad.
When they get there it goes bad from the beginning. Jack from Jupiter (carrying Mr Marathon) gets scared and flies away. The Deep crashes into the nose of the plane and gets stuck. Black Noir gets dropped and lands and gets knocked out cold. Lamplighter got stuck on the wing. Homelander and Queen Maeve decide to enter the plane by opening the door only to see a child get sucked out. Homelander kills the terrorists but his bloody suit terrified the passengers. The Deep kicks in the windows and destroys the controls. Black Noir is the only one who knows his to fly plane but is gone. Jack from Jupiter shows up ,drops off Mr Marathon and leaves again. Homelander tries to steer the plane but crashes it into the Brooklyn Bridge killing hundreds including Mr Marathon.
This is important because it shows why Vought never tried to let then be hero's, but instead stage everything.
On the show it just they do it that way because its easier and controllable.
But if we got to see just how bad at being hero's they were, it all makes more sense to me.
They don't let then be hero's not because they're valuable assets they don't want damaged, it's because their literally not capable
EDIT.... the fact that it happened on 9/11 is irrelevant
