Life in the UK test and accessibility requirements

Heya, I am writing this post to get advice for a disabled friend who is looking into taking the Life in the UK test. They have limited mobility and dexterity, particularly around typing/using keyboards, etc., and speech and are prone to frequent injuries/subluxations.

They have accessibility requirements that may not be possible to meet based on the info I have had from the Life in the UK website & helpline.

Specifically:

  • Allowing a carer to be in the room for the test (to help set up + with typing depending on her mobility/dexterity that day)
  • Bringing her own equipment (keyboard / mouse) to prevent injuries.

Has anyone successfully managed to get these accessibility requirements met as a disabled person? There's not a lot of information online or direct contact details to speak to a test centre manager who could offer more info.

I know one can book a quiet room / extra time as long as one can provide medical evidence, but the helpline said the above wouldn't be allowed even with medical evidence.

Thanks!
