Hoping someone else has had experience with a specific problem to the 10th gen Civic Coupe Touring package.
The screen got damaged. I was about to buy a digitizer replacement for 20$ but I learned through other’s attempts that the generic screen replacements dont work for the Touring edition.
Apparently, the Touring package is the only one with this issue. I was unable to find any touring specific parts online, leaving me devoid of cheap options how to fix this.
Replacing the whole headunit with an aftermarket part would also require buying an additional wiring harness, as the touring package has a fiberoptic coupling that connects to an external amp (my understanding).
Here are my questions:
- Anybody know a replacement screen that works for Touring edition?
- Can I use a used replacement screen thats not from a Touring edition? If it works, do I lose functionality? (I’ll snatch one from junkyard if a civic shows up)
- Ways I can make an aftermarket headunit connect to the amp without cashing out on the extra wiring harness? (Ie, wire it myself). Whats specific to the touring set up?
Apparently, the touring edition screen has a specific chip that without it renders the whole unit unusable.
Anybody else ever have this problem?
