So far I'm on book #2, and annoyed Auren hasnt asked for better accommodations for the saddles yet.
The other saddles have to give up their body to Midas and probably whoever else he ordered. They have to do all sorts of things they probably don't want to. They're the ones sexuly abused by the pirates (having to sit in laps and get their ass slapped, etc). Rissa is the one raped by the captain.
Yet Auren really just is so clueless why they hate her. How can she be so clueless when it's so obvious?
Even in captivity under the 4th kingdom's army, she gets a bath, free roam of the camp, a roomy tent.
Meanwhile 12 saddles are crammed into a small tent with very restricted access to the outside. They don't even seem to get a bath and proper wash.
And Auren has not once askwd for something better for them. She speaks up to the caprain for other things.
And then she is so shocked why Rissa wants gold. She just doesn't get it it seems. She should want to help a fellow woman who has been through such a rough life be free.
At this point I really am on the side of the saddles
