For years I struggled with growing lower back pain. Then I spent a night at my grandparents, and found out their old stiff wire mattress practically cured my back pain. Now I've discovered that softer beds = sorer back.
This brings to my present issue. I live in an apartment, and as part of the lease agreement I can't change out the included bed/mattress. I tried installing a 2" latex mattress topper, but that only slightly improved things. I'm thinking of getting a mattress board, but am unsure of how best to install it. Should it go under the mattress, or between the mattress and the topper? Are there any other ways to stiffen a normal mattress without just replacing it? Any advice is appreciated.
