My daughter (13 years old) just started hockey two months ago and is currently taking hockey skating lessons.

The house/recreational league at our local rink requires a skating test to see if players have the ability to play.
The information sheet said it recommends the player to have a year of hockey experience, but if we wait another year, we’ll miss out on a lot of opportunities (our rink includes league experience in almost everything).

She takes hockey very seriously even thought she started pretty late, so we’re wondering, should she even show up for the tryout next month?

Right now, she can:

· Skate around the ice confidently without falling
· Do a regular stop
· Do somewhat clumsy crossovers
· Skate backward a little
· Handle the puck well
· Has a tiny bit of playing experience

Given all that, should she try out, or would it be better to wait for another season?

I am five months pregnant, and my husband and I currently love the baby name Bellavia. It has beautiful meanings, is easy to spell and pronounce, and Bellavia is also one of my favorite jazz pieces. However, one concern my husband and I have is that Bellavia is typically used as a last name of Italian heritage or as a middle name. We're wondering, would it be weird to name our daughter a name that is a common last name?"
