I’m very glad that the moka pot was packaged so well, especially since it had to survive a transatlantic flight. I do have a couple of questions, though: I don't understand why it was washed out but not wiped dry before shipping (meaning there was still water inside), nor why the grime wasn't wiped away (specifically at the junction of the handle and the latch).
As for the internal reservoir where the water is filled, it actually holds 330–350 ml, whereas the website lists the capacity as 300–330 ml.
So, this particular unit truly is a 6-cup model. Considering the item's price on the Alessi website versus what I actually paid—including shipping—it came out to be 2.6 times cheaper; so, I'm not too upset... just a little bit.
Well then! Now I need to learn the proper way to clean and care for it. After that—starting today—I’ll be brewing my very first cup of coffee in a moka pot, and an Alessi one at that! (I really hope it lasts a long time and doesn't develop any rust spots, like the issues I've seen reported online.)
