Now before anyone bashes this post and goes "The Hypercharge sucks and doesn't really add much to Gene". I deeply understand you and your concerns, especially as a player who's 2nd fav brawler is Gene.
But I don't think the Hypercharge is THAT BAD in concept:
You either get a bigger hitbox on your main target or have the ability to pull 2 or 3 targets which can result in a powerful turnaround ability.
So why is it considered D- or F tier within the game? For 2 big reasons:
The Side Pulls have a VERY WIDE AND DENSE spread so you never feel the extra hitbox with the Hyper. Think of it as Clancy's Stage 3 Attack before Supercell reduced the spread of it.
Gene can't do splash damage and also isn't really a damage dealer, so pulling 2 or 3 targets backfire UNLESS you have him paired with AoE DPS like R-T.
So how can this possibly be solved without ENTIRELY replacing the Hypercharge? With 2 simple additions... ok I lied, one of em requires Gene getting his Buffies but HEAR ME OUT:
The change that can be done right now at any time: less spread on the pulls, basically the treatment that Clancy got on his Stage 3 Attack very recently.
When Gene gets his Buffies (which won't happen soon enough, but will eventually): His Hyper Buffie grants him splash damage on his attacks similar to Bull's and Griff's Hyper Buffies.
So what would these changes solve?
1st change would actually make it feel like Gene's Hypered Super has a bigger hitbox.
While the 2nd change wouldn't punish Gene for pulling more than 1 target, he wouldn't do crazy damage but just enough to somewhat reward you for pulling multiple targets.
Let me know what ya'll think!
