2015 R, any ideas on what could had caused this issue on one side of my fender liner if the front two wheels but not the other? top interlocking piece is all chewed up and abt 3 in of plastic is missing. first pic is the issue second looks to be fine. any foreseeable issues with the hole?

first time being genuinely lost with a car, interior had no badging at all. HELP!
