What helped after being off the job market for a while

After being off the market for a while and trying to move into a role that fit, the hardest part was not just writing a better resume.

The harder part was figuring out how to explain the full story clearly:

- what experience still counted

- what needed to be translated for a different kind of role

- which projects were strong evidence

- where the fit was real vs. wishful thinking

- how to stop rewriting everything from scratch for every application

What helped was using AI less like a resume generator and more like a thinking partner.

Instead of starting with a job description and asking for a tailored resume, I found it more useful to start with career history: projects, messy transitions, metrics, decisions, work that never made it onto a resume, and examples that explained why a role might fit.

Then each application became less about "rewrite this resume" and more about "which parts of this experience matter for this role?"

That made the materials more specific, and it made interview prep easier because the same real examples carried through.

That process helped me land a role that fit.

I ended up turning that process into a small tool for people dealing with the same problem: active applicants, people coming back to the market, career changers, or anyone trying to explain a nonlinear path.

In practical terms, it helps someone capture their complete career history and shape it into clearer material for each role: stronger examples to use, a better sense of which roles are worth prioritizing, resume and cover letter drafts tied to the experience that fits the role, and interview prep that is specific to each opportunity.

It is not meant to mass-apply, fake experience, or guarantee interviews. The goal is to help people better showcase their own experience.
