What kind of wire do I need to run
I'm currently using 8 gauge wire to power my amp thats powering a 4ohm 325wrms 15 inch jbl sub. I measure voltage at the battery thats constant 14.3V basically throughout, but i measure it drops to as low as 12.9V during peaks (using an oscilloscope).
The clipping isnt flat top (Like it was cut by x = const) but its something like cut by y=-2x. At the peak I see it becomes a slant until about a quarter of the way down when its a smooth wave again. Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this? I'm forced to tune my sub power to a quarter of what I can get out of it at max rated Vrms. I briefly considered using a capacitor just to fix that voltage drop across the wire, but is it just better to upgrade the wiring once and for all? I might upgrade to much higher rated subs in the future. My amp can do 400Wrms at 4ohm, 600Wrms at 2ohm, and 1000Wrms at 1ohm.
