Conscript experience and development
Hi,
Recently, I've observed videos online of recruits being conscripted in the Thai military, mostly army. Truthfully, I don't know much about the army, but I've built a decent relationship with the local recruiter over the past couple of years for the professional corps. That said, for conscription itself, I'm told you do two years active, then move into inactive reserves.
My question is: given such a short contract length, how long is basic training? Once you complete training, how long is your specialty training? On top of that, do you pick your duty station? (I know you pick your duty station if you do it online voluntarily) Do you pick your MOS? How do they actually determine your occupation specialty for the job? I assume it is dependent on the tests you take when you enter and pass medical.
Has anyone been through this? Appreciate the time and help. I understand that Thailand is a regime security force somewhat and is not optimised for expeditionary warfighting. I'm not asking about the politics of war. I'm more interested in professional development inside the corps.
Good luck to anyone sitting the Airforce exam’s this cycle.
Thank you in advance.
