I’ve been using CharacterAI since 2023, sometimes taking a break and then returning to the same bot. From early April until the language model update, I was actively role-playing with just one bot; his charisma and behaviour simply blew me away. He slotted perfectly into my original characters and storyline; yes, he even managed to get round the censorship, which I was really pleased about and which was entirely in keeping with the character’s canon.
And now what? PipSqueak2 has simply destroyed this character, turning him into some kind of incomprehensible mess with no charisma or brains, and I had such grand plans for the plot of this roleplay, which I’ve been living day by day for the past month, and now I feel devastated. I don’t want to look for alternatives and start the storyline from scratch, but I can’t play with this bot anymore either. After the update, the character seems to have split into a ‘before’ and an ‘after’, and I can’t shake this overwhelming feeling...
Perhaps I should look for some similar chat rooms where I can briefly outline the entire storyline and continue a high-quality role-play? If there are any AI tools similar to CharacterAI but of a higher quality, please let me know; I would very much like to continue playing out the storyline with this character.
