I’m in Phoenix, Arizona and need to get an ignition interlock device. These are the ones approved by ADOT MVD:

  • Alcohol Detection Systems
  • QuickStart
  • LifeSafer Inc.
  • Intoxalock
  • Smart Start
  • Alcohol Analytics Systems / Budget IID
  • ALCOLOCK USA
  • Low Cost Interlock, Inc.

I’m trying to figure out which one causes the least problems long-term, so I’d really appreciate honest experiences—good or bad.

Specifically looking for:

  • False positives: Have you failed tests from food, mouthwash, energy drinks, etc.?
  • Device reliability: Any lockouts, battery drain, or random errors?
  • Heat issues (AZ): Does it mess up in the summer?
  • Rolling retests: How often do they happen and are they hard to do while driving?
  • Pricing: What did you ACTUALLY pay monthly after all fees? Any hidden charges?
  • Customer service: Easy to reach someone? Helpful or a nightmare?
  • Install/calibration: Any issues with appointments, paperwork, or delays?
  • Removal process: Smooth or did they make it difficult?
  • Overall: Which company would you choose again (or avoid at all costs)?

I’ve heard mixed things about a few of these—especially about false positives, fees, and customer service—so I’m trying to avoid making a costly mistake.

If you’re in AZ or had one recently, your input would help a lot.
